Substrate is used as a nutritional depot for the roots. You are free to select the gravel type and colour. REMEMBER to cover the substrate with min. 3-4 cm of gravel. The substrate has a long-term effect and promotes healthy plant growth.
Plant Care Substrate is a clay and sphagnum concentrate which is used with gravel when setting up an aquarium.
Use a 1cm thick layer of Substrate which should be laid on the bottom of the aquarium. Then a minimum layer of 3-4 cm of gravel should be laid on top of the substrate. The gravel acts as a physical barrier between the concentrated Substrate and the water. If plant/root transition to minimize disturbing dirt from the plant substrate.
